A Different Point of View

One of the things I love most about photography is the fact that even a child can shoot a photo but in a different perspective,

One - Theyre not as tall so they dont see the world the way we do

two - Theyre kids so they can never even hold the camera still giving it some motion

three - Their photo subject decision making skills are pretty quick since they usually want to shoot their favorite toys, people, things.

(to name a few...)

I made a list for my little friend Dean (5 years old) and showed him how to use a camera application on my phone, taught him how to turn the flash on and there he went with his ten item photo assignment.

These 10 items were chosen by him and photographed with no influence or direction from anyone but himself.

Assignment List

#1 - Mom

#2 - Candle

#3 - Bed

#4 - Flower (Orchid)

#5 - Bicycle

#6 - Toys

#7 - Lamp

#8 - T.V. / Fan

#9 - Door Locks

#10 - Chris

L.A. Local

Skateboarding in L.A. can sometimes lead you to seeing some of the most interesting or crasy looking people you have ever laid eyes on.

After getting flashed by a black homeless lady trying to shoot some photos of the homies sk8ing I ran into Mary.

Mary has not had her photograph taken in a very long time and she was delighted when I asked her if I could photograph her. Mary is homeless living in L.A. and she enjoys her coffee and telling stories of people getting in fights. I tried giving Mary some more coffee money after she let me take her photo but she was so happy to just have someone want to photograph her that she wouldnt take any of my coffee money. Thanks Mary.

It's incredible how many ways of expression are out there and its amazing how fluid the human body can be through some of those expressions.

This past Sunday I was able to attend a Brazilian Capoeira class and for those of you who dont know what that is it's basically an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines, martial arts, music and, dance.

Some of the things these people could do with themselves was truly inspirational.

Below are some images I took. Obrigado!

Erick Stricker Skate Jam

So some of my homies and I decided to head out to the Transworld Skateboarding offices this past Saturday to pay our respects to Eric Stricker who recently passed away. Eric was the Editor for Transworld Skateboarding Magazine and he will be greatly missed.

I have been reading TWS for 13 years now so I was glad that I could come and show my respect to someone such as Eric that made it possible for myself and millions of other skateboarders and skateboarding fans to have a magazine with some real skateboarding content inside.

The turnout was a good one, seeing many people rocking Chi-town Jerseys and putting back plenty of silver bullets! People were tearing up the skate park and all in all it was great vibes from everyone that was there. It felt like a real family, a skateboarding family which is what we all are.

Here are a few photos I shot. Enjoy.

Kelli's Cali Trip

Ok, so Kelli (my G/F :) took a trip to Cali for the weekend to spend some time with me (the B/F :). The last time I saw Kelli it had been in early July from a roadtrip I took with some good friends to Flint Michigan. Before this I had not seen Kelli in a little shy of one year.

A lot has happened in Kelli's life and it hasnt all been good, in
fact a lot of it has been very tragic and sad.
Kelli is one of my favorite people to photograph, she has so many different amazing raw feelings and emotions that show through her that are always amazing to capture. She's also so beautiful to photograph, im always telling her that which she always shrugs off but I believe these photos show for themselves.

Kelli, you are truly a gorgeous girl.
